Mumbai Cops Opened 2 Container Trucks, Found Over 300 Migrant Workers

Maharashtra Police on Thursday discovered over 300 migrant staff crammed inside two container vans which have been ostensibly carrying important commodities from Telangana to Rajasthan.

The shocked officers discovered that the employees, who hailed from Rajasthan, had chosen this surreptitious and harmful mode of journey as they needed to return residence.

Reports of determined migrant staff heading residence amid lockdown on account of coronavirus pandemic are rising from many elements of the nation.

A crew of police and income division officers stopped two container vans coming from Telangana within the border district of Yavatmal for inspection.

“The officials at Pandharkavda toll booth found something was fishy as the drivers could not give a satisfactory answer as to what the trucks were carrying and where,” mentioned a senior official.

“Inside, they found some 300 daily wagers in two containers. Some of them said they wanted to go back to their home state, Rajasthan and could not find any other mode of transport,” he mentioned.

Action can be taken in opposition to the drivers of the vans, however officers are at a loss as to how one can cope with the hapless staff.

“We do not know what to do with them. They need to go home for survival. We will take some decision soon,” he mentioned.
